Meet the MG Behind MG Mortgages
Hello, I’m Mark Gilligan, Mortgage and Protection Specialist at MG Mortgages & Protection, based in Stockport, Greater Manchester. With a journey that commenced in February 2001 at the Cheshire Building Society, I’ve dedicated more than two decades of my life to the intricate world of Financial Services.
Journey of Expertise
My career began as a telesales adviser at the Cheshire Building Society, offering invaluable insights into savings, mortgages, and investments. Fuelled by a passion for property, I pursued and earned my CeMap qualification, swiftly transitioning to the mortgage direct telesales team. This marked the beginning of my immersive journey into the dynamics of mortgages, coinciding with the purchase of my first property.
In 2006, I ventured into the mortgage broker world, joining a niche brokerage in Bury specialising in debt consolidation, right to buy, shared ownership, and secured loans. This experience, working on the other side of the fence, provided the challenge I sought, and I knew the broker world was my calling.
Navigating Challenges and Embracing Growth
The subsequent years saw my growth within the industry. From weathering the storm of the global financial crash in 2008 to contributing to the organic growth of a small brokerage, I continued to thrive. Furthering my career, I moved to a local company in Stockport, focusing on high-volume remortgage and secured loan applications.
In 2011, I embraced a new challenge in the new build space, joining RSC. Progressing from Area Mortgage Manager to Sales Director, I played a pivotal role in building RSC into the largest mortgage broker in the Primis mortgage network—an achievement that fills me with immense pride.
With over two decades of experience, I’ve honed my skills and knowledge, always putting clients first. In 2023, I’m delighted to introduce MG Mortgage & Protection Ltd, a venture that allows me to provide top-class service, build and nurture relationships, and adhere to the ethos of advising clients as I would advise myself.
Life Outside Mortgages
Away from the world of mortgages, my family and I are fully engaged in the hustle and bustle of life. Whether it’s football practice, children’s parties, or time spent in the park with our dog Hugo, we cherish every moment.
Personally, my escape is a 4-mile run before the school drop-off—my way of embracing the early bird philosophy and setting the tone for the day.
